10 Jun What a debut for AMOURICE
The moment we had been waiting for, AMOURICE’s debut on a racecourse. The first day at the Newmarket July Course was very busy especially as the sun was out. Her race had been split and she had been drawn in the toughest division. As previously mentioned, although lovely in her stable at home, she can be a bit of a hot head. She looked beautiful in the parade ring and she certainly needed the two handlers. When Jane legged her Jockey Martin Dwyer up, it took AMOURICE by surprise and she went up onto her back legs. With a great display of horsemanship Martin soon had her walking on and they cantered down to the start. As the only Filly, she was loaded into the stalls last. She broke well and Martin had her tucked it so that she could not go too fast and settle and she had the rail to guide her and keep her straight. She was allowed to get her breath back in the dip and then Martin asked her again for another run. She kept going and he did not hit her and sat very quietly. She finished 4th to a huge cheer from members and we knew that we had a lovely horse.
Exciting times ahead…………..
