21 Aug Another great run from AMOURICE on Saturday 19th August
Another fantastic run by Amourice on the July Course yesterday saw our filly just beaten on the line by the favourite Dathanna over 7 furlongs – the Godolphin-owned filly had beaten us in the Maiden last time out – with a short- head being called the official distance as we recorded our second runners-up spot in succession. The winner is well thought of by its connections and may head for some quality races later.
Once again young jockey Paddy Bradley broke well from the stalls and running down the centre of the track early on, he steered Amourice to the front, with the favourite again on the stand rails towards the back of the nine runners.
Amourice led them into the dip and still looked capable of getting the win but as the favourite drifted off the rails towards our filly in the run-in, she was just headed in the last furlong and despite a brave effort could not quite get her nose in front, the attached photo of the finish showing how close it was on the line.
Paddy said Amourice had still run a little “green” and had looked over at Dathanna as she came alongside but had improved over her last run and would probably be suited to a mile race. Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam said she would look closely at races in France next month where we would qualify for additional Owners’ Premiums if we are successful, as well as options at home, and we await the handicapper’s rating adjustment on Tuesday to find out how well he considers the filly performed.
