07 Jun AMOURICE finishes 5th at Leicester
No two days are ever the same in racing and unfortunately at Leicester AMOURICE could not repeat her winning performance. On a warm day at Leicester, we knew that our main danger would be BURGONET and she was.
AMOURICE had travelled well to the course and considering that it was Family Day with lots going on, AMOURICE was very calm in the paddock and on best behaviour. She certainly looked fitter for her last run.
She loaded into the stalls calmly and waited for the others. She slightly missed the break but was soon in the mix. As usual, she pulled hard and our jockey Brett Doyle managed to get her in a good position on the outside. Unfortunately, she struggled with the undulating track as she had to change her legs to balance herself and her natural high head carriage did not help the situation. She started to run on again on the level but by then it was too late and she came home safely finishing 5th and 4 ¼ lengths behind the winner.
Jane reported that AMOURICE was fine the next morning although AMOURICE had come into season.
